The end of civilization brought the end of culture. The unacceptable became the norm. Finally listening, now that we have no other choice, we are our own population control. Mostly, we eat males, choosing between the johns and janes as one once would have chosen between plump roosters. We learned to gut newborns like lambs and to use their bones again and again for soups, making a little go a long way. Those that didn’t adjust died. If they starved, we boiled their bones, too. If they were sick, we burned them for the heat. Conservation is the key.
